'Boss Snake' - 2010 Goodguys Give Away Car |
|
When we were asked if we had an interest in building the 2010 Goodguys giveaway car we immediately agreed to the challenge. We were given a 1969 Dynacorn Mustang body and and parts from many suppliers including John Kaase, Ride Tech, Kicker, Ring Brothers, Tremec, Flaming River, Ricks Stainless Tanks, Holley, Drivelines Inc, Chassisworks, PRC, Painless Wiring, Baer Brakes, PPG, Intro, Classic Instruments, Optima Batteries, BFGoodrich, Peak Antifreeze, Herculiner, Flowmaster, Meguiars, Vintage Air, Laurel Mountain Mustangs, and many more.... We have put many of our own custom touches on this car to make it very unique. The John Kaase 520 Boss Engine didn't even come close to fitting between the inner fender wells so we cut out the originals and fabricated our own. We also raised the area where the Ride Tech Shockwaves bolt in to get the car to sit lower... you know... Just how we like them! We had to remove the stock firewall and move it back and raise the transmission tunnel to fit the massive engine in there as well.. In the rear we removed the stock wheel tubs and fabricated our own so we could fit a nice wide tire under the car. We then stretched the rear wheel opening out .75" to help get the tire tucked up tight under the body and give the car an aggressive appearance. The front sheet metal was not used, instead we were supplied with a fiberglass Shelby style clip, to go along with the front clip is a Shelby taillight panel, rear deck lid and spoiler. With all of this custom work on the outside we just couldn't leave the inside of the car alone. We constructed a complete custom dash and all fabricated all of the interior panels. Under the hood we also made many custom panels to give the engine compartment a ultra clean appearance. The car was fit together for final mock up, taken back part, painted and reassembled in record time.. The finished product is just awesome! You have to see and hear the car in person because it is simply awesome! The Boss Snake debut March 12th in Scottsdale AZ. Come see it at one of the 23 Goodguys events and even take a ride in it at one of the Autocross events!
UPDATE!!! The Boss Snake has started its tour around the country on the Goodguys show circuit.. The Snake is a huge hit and has been well received.. It was put to the test at the Nashville Nationals on the autocross track and became an instant crowd pleaser.. Shop owner Curt Ukasik was piloting the Boss Snake around the track and quickly learned with the monster torque of the John Kaase 520 the car would pull the left front wheel over 18" in the air when exiting a turn... Jaws dropped and the crowd went wild every time Curt would stand on the gass and hang that wheel way up in the air!! |
